Let's outline the process. Just for fun.
-Sketch until you're out of paper and pick a design. -Map the guitar with tracing paper and create a final pattern. -Coat the pattern with masking tape and razor out a stencil. -Trace the stencil pattern onto the guitar with fine point sharpie. -Using a dremel, remove the finish down to the bare wood. -Using acetate or alcohol, wipe clean any remaining sharpie. ---Be careful not to remove the finish with this method. -Stain every 4-6 hours until the pattern is at the desired shade. ---Do not to use too much at once or it may travel through the wood grain underneath the finish. -Finish with a wood wax or polish. I used orange oil & bee's wax. It might be interesting to explore different techniques with spot-staining or spray paint... That will be an idea I'll keep rattling in the back of my mind for the future.
