One year of blogging later...
And it just ain't me, babe. A friend talked to me about the nature of blogs, that they are a platform for getting to know who we are separate from our work. And I said to him, "It is like asking a person who doesn't listen to music to name a song that defines them." Now, I love music but the analogy applies to this online presence. How could you ever expect to know someone through the internet when they don't internet. Meet me, greet me, and let me meet you. I see there is regular traffic on this website. If you have read any of these posts with the intent to get to know me, please drop me a line in the Contact page. I already know about myself, I'd rather get to know about you. Nothing would be sweeter than a hello from this near-infinite void that is the internet, to see the faceless many that are seeing me. If you need me, I'll be in my studio. All the best, LS Quigley I made a Wreath!
Started with a wire frame, added pine and cones and eucalyptus, even made the bow. Thanks goes to Karleen and LD&A for supplying the greens and ribbon. It was a wonderful wreath-making party. I've been helping LD&A bring holiday cheer to a handful of properties this season-- the years of floral experience is paying off! I've been making bows and sprays of greenery, which you can see filling out the center of garland boughs and filling in the bottoms around the planters. I also made a dozen sprays for the inside of the Chamber of Commerce. We decked out one property in massive amounts of lights and hit up the planters in downtown Brighton too!
Tis the season for hard work in the cold! Hahaha! Started on this painting a while back, and I'm finally sitting down to finish it. Added some buildings and...
Someone is calling for help. Alas, maybe another day. Kevin and I made some festive, yet somehow unsettling scarecrow decorations out of children's clothes from Salvation Army and burlap sacks. We set them up just in time for the Harvest Halloween party across the street.
People double take when driving by-- even Kevin! He came in late one night, laughing and told me he'd thought "What are children doing out in the dark so close to the road!?" This little dude was made alongside the seahorse.
He's happy but could do with another coat of paint. I was doing so well, posting regularly like it was a natural thing I do. Turns out it isn't, and I kept busy doing everything else. So here we start again with this small project from today, and we'll work back through the months. There is so much to photograph I feel a little overwhelmed. This is a Seahorse Totem for my brother Augustine to hang in his truck. I sent it across country with a bit of homemade baklava to lift his spirits. In the spirit of the Pokemon Go one year anniversary, I had made my buddy Eevee an Ash Hat! Or maybe its ear broke off and I needed to cover its mutilated shame. Yesterday the bill of the hat snapped off somewhere, so I replaced it. Of these two photos, can you guess which one is the original? I also made a pull tab for the Charmander on my bag. This life we live is a good one. This 2.5 inch Houndoom was made for a friend's birthday, but I haven't seen her in a while. So now his butt is happily glued to my dash. We burn rubber, my little hell hound and I.
